Lazy Man's Birthday Wish
Hey, Jeanne!!!
Happy Birthday!!
What amazing feats are you going to perform Today?
(Don't give me too many details, I'll just feel old and tired...)
We hope you have a wonderful time, whatever it is that you end up doing.

Thanks, bro! My day reminds me of a cute chimpanzee plaque I used to have that said, "Work fascinates me. I can sit and look at it for hours." Here's me plan: I am going to *watch* my daughter bake a cake and *watch* my son play video games and *watch* my husband slaving over the laptop and *watch* a construction crew put up a storage shed in my back yard. Meanwhile I am going to *watch* a few episodes of I Love Lucy. Care to join me?
I'd love to watch a few - so long as I get to watch a few episodes of Gilligan, M*A*S*H, Wild Wild West, Star Trek (all incarnations), Johnny Carson, Dr. Who, and a host of other television shows and movies.
But how on earth can I justify the time? When you consider that M*A*S*H went on for over ten years, thirteen episodes a year, over one hundred and thirty episodes - sitting down and watching them all would take more than two weeks, without breaks!
Add them all up, and I'd spend years of my life watching shows I've probably seen before (and still love); meanwhile, new shows are competing for my attention - not to mention all the books and radio shows and music. And live shows and documentaries.
Ow, now my head hurts.
But that's OK. I'll just watch a few episodes of "The Carol Burnett Show" and feel much better...
